Day 8: “A bumblebee.”

Commissioned by a former coworker and good friend, April 5.

I’m cheating a bit on this one: I drew this series of colored pencil bees last fall, and I think it took more than one day to sketch them and collect them up into an animation. But today is going to be a day of rest for me, drawing-wise. This busy bee thus swoops in to save the series!

A hand-drawn bee buzzes into view, hovers briefly, and flies off to the right in an animated GIF.

Day 9: “A bouquet of flowers.”

Commissioned by an old family friend, April 6.

It was a gorgeous day for a walk around the Nob Hill neighborhood of Albuquerque. Over half an hour and half a dozen blocks, I took about forty photos of the flowers I saw: daffodils in front yards, blossoms dangling from tree branches overhead, dandelions and poppies poking up through sidewalk cracks.
